Roy C Link Lister Rail Truck:
Both the Lister Rail Truck and Hudson Hunslet 24hp 4wD were part of the late Bob Barlow’s collection intended for his Lincolnshire potato railway. Whilst I have these two locos in the build pile, they seem to be getting lower in priority as I get distracted with other projects that I believe are easier! The opportunity to get professionally built models from Bob’s collection was too good an opportunity to pass.

The loco arrived in grey primer and just needed painting and a bit more weight. It’s quite hard to add weight to the Lister so I have used a whitemetal Phoenix OF2A industrial loco driver from S&D Models (which I think was designed to fit this loco). Most of the loco is cast brass which helps with the weight and at an overall 73g it performs reasonably well on my track. I knew the Lister would be slow with a gear ratio of 196:1 but I hadn’t really appreciated how slow! I will most likely run it at the more specialised shows as it is probably too slow for the general public!
The photo is an early view before painting and weathering of both the loco and driver were completed.

Progress with painting the Lister. It was taken on the phone so the depth of field isn’t great. It needs a little bit more treatment with the weathering powders but it’s almost there.

This is pretty much finished now. The only downside of the clever construction is a rather obvious slotted screw at the driver end. I have disguised this with a yellow oil can which is fixed with a bit of pva glue. This should enable its removal if I need to dismantle the chassis.
