Hudson Go-Go Fordson Tractor

Hudson Go-Go tractor

I had been planning to build one of these locos for some time when a very nice 3d printed version appeared by Paul Smith (floyd_kraemer).  At the time he only produced an 09 version so I needed to remove a bit of material from the inside to suit one of Mark Clarke’s Mk2 SPUD replacement chassis.

Luckily I didn’t need to eat into too much of the beautiful drive chain detail. The prototype had 2ft diameter wheels which were far more prominent than the 1ft 6inch (10.5mm) ones I chose for my chassis so I could keep the chain detail.

There are a couple of compromises in that the canopy supports should be angle iron rather than round bar and the tractor engine unit should be off-set to the right when looking forward from the cab but these are things I can live with as I am not sure when I would have got around to building one myself.

Overall I am very pleased with how it has turned out.  It is quite light and most of my light locos have struggled a bit with my iffy track work. However, it performs reasonably well, particularly after I tackled one or two areas of track.  It certainly creates a talking point at shows!
